The Vodka Bottles

In this article we attempt to solve two of the most hotly debated mysteries in the history of LOST. In the pilot episode of Lost, Jack is handed two bottles of vodka by the stewardess Cindy. To many this was an innocuous event. But to many LOST-ites on an AOL message board, this was the beginning of something sinister.

And in S2E13, another mystery arises that has even the most astute Lostophile baffled. In this episode, Sun is attacked by what appears to be one of the others. Mere seconds later, the commotion of her attack draws the attention of Sawyer and Kate. When the two find Sun, she is semi-conscious. It is revealed that Charlie was the one who attacked Sun, and he did it under the orders of Sawyer. At the end of the episode, Charlie states “Sun can never find out what I did to her. Never.”

I took Charlie’s statement at face value, but on SWLS a theory was posted that I would never have thought of in a million years while sober. The following in another actual post from that site (so please ignore the spelling and grammatical errors):

I think that Charlie is the one who got Sun pregnant, and thats why he says that no one can ever know what he did to her. let me know :D

How does cloudy vodka given to Jack by an Other on the plane before it even crashed, and Charlie getting Sun pregnant in the 26 seconds the attack lasted while she was fully clothed interconnect? Finally I think I have found the answer to both questions.

And Charlie is that solution. Maybe, just maybe, Charlie has the gift of Immaculate Insemination, a rare but extraordinary gift, enabling that person to impregnate something just by touching it. It would give whole new meaning to the band’s name, Driveshaft (hee hee, I said shaft).

If you remember in S1E1 that Charlie talks to Cindy at his seat on the plane. At this moment it is possible that Charlie inadvertently infuses Jack’s vodka with his essence. The cloudiness of Jack’s vodka can simply be explained by the addition of Charlie’s man juice.

Here is where I feel that these mysteries tie together. During his attack on Sun, I feel that Charlie may have also accidentally impregnated Sun through her clothes. Immaculate insemination can be a blessing or a curse. Charlie seems to lose control over this gift in situations of extreme tension. Charlie was very nervous on the plane because of the heroin he was concealing, and we can only imagine how nervous he was while attacking his friend Sun.

What I can’t figure out is Charlie’s motives. Does Charlie mean to do this to his friends? How come everyone who comes into contact with Charlie doesn’t become pregnant? Is Hurley pregnant too? Is this one big sinister plan to populate the island with mini Charlie’s? Only time will tell us the truth behind these mini mysteries. But I think the mystery of the Immaculate Impregnation is finally solved.
