s3ep13.jpgThe Man From Tallahassee continues a string of strong episodes with answers, and, of course, many questions.  A better name might have been "The Continuing Bumblings of John Locke". As promised, the source of John Locke’s paralysis was finally revealed. The tragic events begin to unfold when Locke gets pulled back into the life of his father, Anthony Cooper, and his latest con. Peter Talbot, the son of Cooper’s latest con target, contacts John to find out if the man with plans to marry his mother is trustworthy. Once again, Locke acts without thinking and tells his father about Peter’s suspicions. Cooper, being a man of action, has Peter killed and throws his own son out of an eight-story window. Locke miraculously survives the fall, but is paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair.
Locke's self-serving tour continues during the attempted rescue of Jack back on the island. Despite Jack’s apparent happiness and contentment with The Others, Kate, Sayid and John make a quick plan to rescue him. Again, Locke goes against the plan and seeks out Ben for his own purposes instead of taking his position behind the house Jack is in. This leads to the capture of Sayid and Kate. In a rec room meeting, Jack cryptically tells Kate of his plan to take the next sub off the island, promising Kate that he will come back for her. Kate becomes weary since Jack is sounding more and more like an Other. Is Jack acting like an Other to carry out his master plan? Or is Jack just looking after himself? Either way his plan to leave the island was destroyed, literally, by John Locke.

The Explosive John Locke appears to be on a mission to destroy all possible ways of getting off the island. He holds Ben and Alex hostage to find out where the submarine is located. During Locke’s siege of Ben’s house they discuss the island, relive John’s history, compare back injuries and enjoy some leftover chicken. We find that Ben is astonished at John's ability to walk instantly upon arriving to the island. Yet, Ben’s own recovery is progressing slowly. Is this because Ben has lived on the island his whole life and John just arrived? Or is it, as John suggests, that the island choose him over Ben. Either way, the island is one magical place. In a strange scene, Ben describes a magic box on the island that can give you anything that you want. What is it that John desires the most, what drives this man to betray everyone to complete his destiny?

As planned, John blows up the sub, standing Jack and Juliette in Othersville.  Then, John gets one more visit from Ben. This time, Ben shows John what the “magic box” has provided. In another classic Lost ending, the battered, tied up and gagged Anthony Cooper is offered up to John. So what does all of this mean? Is there really a magic box that can give you what you need? Is another con being played on John? Is the, Man From Tallahassee, Anthony Cooper, an Other? Is it ole Smokie portraying Cooper? What exactly will John do with his dad? How do Jack and John ever reconcile with the Losties after their betrayals? How do Sayid, Kate, Locke and Jack ever get out of Othersville? What will Danielle do now that she has seen Alex? Keep watching to find out!
