Mystery Status: Unsolved
 Kate has encountered a mysterious black horse on several different occasions, the last time being just outside of the Swan Station entrance on the island. What significance does this horse have and how did it get on the island remains a mystery.

- The horse allowed Kate to escape from the Marshal -Both Kate and Sawyer saw (or appeared to see) the horse

Season 2
Kate first saw the horse after the Marshal almost hit it and swerved to hit a tree instead. This gave Kate an opportunity to escape from the Marshal. Kate next saw the horse on the island, while she was picking fruit, and she seemed to think she was either going crazy or hallucinating. Later, after Sawyer awakes from his near death experience, both of them see the horse just outside of the door into The Swan. Kate actually approaches and pets the horse.
